So, approximately two months ago I was unfortunate enough to have a cat bite through my artery and tendon while working. It became infected later that day, after a lovely trip to the ER. Next day when it was swollen like a red balloon, I needed surgery to clean out the tendons and a picc line of antibiotics in my other arm for two weeks.
The picc line may have been my least favorite part, but seeing that the catheters in my arm kept falling out and pooling morphine and blood around me, I was happy to just be out of the hospital. It's been a rough recovery, and I only just now am able to handle my Canon DSLR. I have been using instagram while recovering this summer, gaining strength and mobility back. Drawing and writing are very difficult as there are scars where I hold a pencil. Overall I am so grateful to be finally (almost) out of the woods with this. It has been an eye opening experience, and I've had to rely on the kindness of family and friends in the beginning without the use of either arm. It has simply been an experience that hones what is important to you, and the people who care about you make a world of difference. The ones who don't, don't matter as much. I hope after having to confront my personal fears during all of this, that one day, when I need it most, I will find out this was in fact a RADIOACTIVE CAT BITE. I look forward to gaining 9 lives and becoming some kind of fancy jewel thief. Or you know, just be real scrappy and more cat like than I already am.
