Erin Kuhn is an interdisciplinary mixed-media artist working in NJ. Her work combines digital and analog techniques, playing with technical precision and playful, traditional art methodologies. She utilizes bright tertiary color palettes and is inspired by syncretism, mythology, feminism and femininity.
“My current body of work is created by a multi-step process and completed on stretched canvas. I paint abstract landscapes on the canvas, pouring and pooling layers of paint and exploring gestural mark making. Then I digitally draw my central figures, plants animals, celestial embellishments. I cut them out of a variety of media: paper, vinyl, other craft materials. then spray paint the cut media and use different techniques to alter the surface. I arrange them on to the canvas surface and adhere them in layers using archival adhesives and varnishes. I love the process of working both digitally and in analog, as it allows me to explore both calculated precision and serendipitous moments.” - Erin Kuhn
